History of Red Tub Day

History of Red Tub Day

In 2010 we asked the Shelby County TN Department of Children Services: “What can we do for you?” They said, “We have nearly 30 kids who need Christmas.”

We gathered up a bunch of Red Sterilite Tubs and asked people to pitch in. ‘Red Tub Day’ was born. In 2016 through individuals, churches, and businesses, the Memphis Family Connection Center (MFCC) was able to provide over 500 Red Tubs for children at risk and in foster care.

As part of Red Tub Day, MFCC in partnership with White Station Church of Christ hosts a special day where the children come to receive a specific Red Tub that was matched to them. During the party, we have face painting, crafts, games, basketball, a petting zoo, pizza party, sleigh rides and (of course!) pictures with Santa.
