We talk often about being an equipping church. We accomplish that through our Sundays together, our Groups, and through life on life gospel relationships.
We also want to offer regular Equipping Classes to prepare you as a minister of the gospel for your everyday life. Below are the Equipping Classes which are open to our church and others around the city:
Taught by Pastor Seth Jones
Church history allows us to understand why the church thinks, acts, and speaks the way that it does today. It answers the questions “how did we get here?” and “why are things the way they are?“. Church history also allows us to see our own time with a fresh perspective. We can see where we have improved and perhaps where we have gone astray. It enables us to see where we have neglected obedience to the whole counsel of God in favor of particular ideas, emphases and practices. We live in a cultural moment that can seem chaotic and confrontative towards the Church and its people. Join us for 6 weeks for History of Christian Doctrine as we journey through church history and doctrine and be comforted and challenged by this truth: if the history of the church teaches us anything, it is that Jesus Christ is faithful to his promise. He will build his church and the gates of hell will not stand against it.
Supplemental reading: Justo Gonzalez, Church History, An Essential Guide (Nashville: Abingdon Press, 1996). The kindle version of this book is not recommended based on formatting.
Stress and anxiety are common threads for women regardless of life season, vocational commitment or marital status. Is there relief for this seemingly endless cycle? This class will combine truth from Scripture, stories from women “in process” and practical application steps to move us toward Gospel rhythms – rhythms that nudge our souls from stress to peace and anxiety to purpose. Together we will laugh and reflect, rest and risk, create and connect. We will learn together how to live the life that is longing to live in us.
Taught by Pastors Claude Atcho, Brian McCurry and Jason Cook
Men have often been told to be good men, but what does it mean to be good at being a man? As men of God we are called to be men with a holy affection for Christ and his church. But how do we do that? To accomplish this we must have an unrivaled devotion to Jesus. This class will equip men with spiritual disciplines to be men of consequence who are trained to be good at being godly men. Pastors Claude Atcho, Brian McCurry, and Jason Cook will team teach through 6 disciplines essential for godly men.
Weekly topics will include: Gospel-Centered Life, Meditation and Prayer, Bible Study and Journaling, Silence and Solitude, Sharing God’s Story and Your Story with Others, and Rest.
15 Challenging Topics | 15 World-Class Instructors | 15 Life-Changing Weeks
