Going back to Zimbabwe
Hey, Fellowship Memphis. My name is Jackie Nyamutumbu, and I'm one of the missionaries sent out of the church. So I am going to Zimbabwe actually to be working with a bunch of other missionaries from many various organizations. I will be partnered with e3. But we hope to mobilize and equip over 10,000 young people and to be sent forth to the 10-40 window to make disciples of all nations. We just realized that the space of missions is changing pretty dramatically, and we want to be ahead of that. We see that God is moving the church in the global south and young people from the global south to be the new missionaries. So we're going to bring forth say the end of the Great Commission.
Fulfillment of the Great Commission
And I just wanted to go back to Zimbabwe. As I was praying and the Lord, who was leading me to the mission field, it just seemed to make the most sense to go back to my own Jerusalem. I want to use everything that I've learned in Memphis through Fellowship Memphis, through Downline Ministries through all these other platforms. The Lord has given me resources here in Memphis to go and use my own language, in a culture that I understand, with people that I already know. I already had relationships there. I'm seeing a great opportunity to use what God has given me while I've been here in Memphis and transplant it and use it in my own culture and language and with my own people. So I'm excited to end up in Zimbabwe.First and foremost, I know this is the right decision for me because it is the right decision for every believer to be on mission.
I think every single one of us is called by the Lord to make disciples of all nations
So to see the Great Commission as a lifestyle is something that, as I came to know the Lord and as I learn more about discipleship, it just became a common-sense call. Since I believe in Jesus and I am a disciple, my role is to multiply. That is just the first and primary thing. This makes sense because I love Jesus, and I'm a disciple of his. But second of all, just seeing a need and desire for Jesus to come back. I just have a broken-heartedness for those people who don't know Jesus. There is a whole population of people throughout the 10th and 40th latitude of the world, some of whom have never even heard the name of Jesus Christ. So it makes sense that we must do whatever we can to mobilize people to all these nations. Not only that, they know the name of Jesus. But may come to believe who he is. And I knew that I had to go back home to Zimbabwe. Because it just even if you think about Acts 1:8, Jesus says you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem first and in Judea Samaria and then unto the ends of the earth. My Jerusalem is Zimbabwe, so it just makes sense to go back home and to start there. I will see how God will use me as an influence up until the ends of the earth. And as much as Jesus calls the disciples to go back to Jerusalem, he is also said in the Word of God that a prophet has not the best reputation in his own home. I just know that when I left Zimbabwe, and I was not a believer. I became a believer when I was in America in school. Now I'm going back home to a context where people only know me as a sweet little girl in my community.
It's gonna be a challenge for them to see me as a minister of the Gospel and a missionary.
So there's some hesitation and just some fear there. Like "oh man, I'm going back home, and everything that I was at home is still gonna be there." But I'm going as a whole new person. So it's a hesitation and a fear but also something that's gonna be really sweet. I think it's gonna be an opportunity for it to be a testimony. To see people say we know who this girl was when she left this country but look at the woman that she is now in Christ. So it's gonna be pretty scary, but a really cool opportunity to see how God's gonna use me going back to my own homeland of Zimbabwe.
