West to Jerusalem
After leaving Bethany, Jesus journeys west to Jerusalem and to the task His Father has set before him - to die a torturous death so all humanity might be reconciled to God. This week, we will take this journey alongside Christ, watching him obediently submit to His Father's will.
My prayer is that, as we follow Christ these seven days, our eyes and hearts will be open to the unspeakable graciousness of His sacrifice - that He should give His life for us and not only die, but first endure tremendous suffering before taking His last breath.
As you set your sight on Jesus' journey to Jerusalem, His trial, crucifixion, day of silence, and glorious resurrection, I pray your heart is stirred by God's love for you, your family, friends, neighbors, and those who have sinned against you. He died for us.
While we ponder, may we sit in awe at God's love for the world. In prayer, may we worship Christ this week for the most scandalous love brought to humankind - the death of the Son of God for our sins, and through His resurrection, the gift of eternal life to all who believe.
May we find courage in the journey. He is our Peace!
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27 27
