Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Open in Prayer

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to move and work during your group time.

  • Spend time praising God for inviting us to know him.

Read Deuteronomy 6:4-7

“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Discuss

  • Why does God command us to love him?

  • Why do we need to love God?

  • What is something that demands your attention?

  • How can we continue to allow God to capture our attention?

  • Describe what it is like to meet with God?

  • Share a time when you know God worked in your life in a way that you know it was definitely God.

Close in Prayer

Spend some time praying for the needs of our church (financial, physical suffering, for those who are searching for God, etc.)

Spend some time praying for the needs in your group.
