Waiting…

Opening Prayer Time

  1.  Pray the prayer, “Come, Holy Spirit” and wait and listen.

  2. Ask the Spirit of God to fill your time together.

Read Luke 24:35-59

35 Then the two from Emmaus told their story of how Jesus had appeared to them as they were walking along the road, and how they had recognized him as he was breaking the bread. 36 And just as they were telling about it, Jesus himself was suddenly standing there among them. “Peace be with you,” he said. 37 But the whole group was startled and frightened, thinking they were seeing a ghost!

38 “Why are you frightened?” he asked. “Why are your hearts filled with doubt? 39 Look at my hands. Look at my feet. You can see that it’s really me. Touch me and make sure that I am not a ghost, because ghosts don’t have bodies, as you see that I do.”

Discuss Together

  1. Why do you think Jesus told his disciples to wait on the Holy Spirit?  Did they not have enough teaching from Jesus?

  2. What struggles have you faced in understanding the Holy Spirit?

  3. How have you grown in your understanding of the Holy Spirit?  How have you grown in trusting the Holy Spirit?

  4. How would you like to continue to grow in your trust of the Holy Spirit?

  5. Why do we need the Holy Spirit?

  6. What does it mean to you to be filled with the Holy Spirit?  What steps can we take to live in greater surrender to the Holy Spirit?

Closing Prayer

  1.  Ask for prayer requests and pray for the needs of the group.

  2. Pray that the members of your groups will live lives full of the Holy Spirit.
